Celebrating 13 years of empowering youth and adults and the evolution into a name that reflects our full community.

For 13 incredible years, Girls Rock MKE has empowered young people and adults of underrepresented gender identities through music, creativity, friendship, and performance. Our mission is not changing, and the heart of our work remains exactly the same.

What is changing is our name.

After a year-long community process that included focus groups, surveys, listening sessions, and input from campers, families, volunteers, alumnae, donors, partners, and local musicians, we realized something important:

Our mission has always been bigger, broader, and more inclusive than our name.

You helped us see that and inspired the evolution ahead.

That’s why, beginning in January 2027, Girls Rock MKE will officially become:

Let’s Get Loud MKE

Same mission. Louder love.

Throughout 2026, we will continue running our programs as Girls Rock Camp and Ladies Rock Camp, while gradually introducing the Let’s Get Loud identity behind the scenes. This transition year allows us to prepare thoughtfully, communicate clearly, and honor the history that brought us here.

Our new name reflects the community we already are, deeply committed to uplifting individuals of all underrepresented gender identities. It honors our past, embraces our present, and welcomes our future.

 

Our Mission Is Not Changing.

Everything you know and love stays the same:

  • Our programming

  • Our teaching philosophy

  • Our values

  • Our leadership

  • Our commitment to trans, nonbinary, gender-expansive, and women-identifying youth and adults

  • Our belief that creativity builds confidence and community

This name change helps us live our mission more fully and visibly.

 

Why We’re Changing Our Name

Because we listened.

Campers told us they want a name that reflects all who attend. Volunteers told us the name sometimes limited how people perceived the organization. Families told us they want language that matches the inclusivity they feel inside our programs. Musicians told us that genres extend far beyond “rock.” Community partners told us a name that signals belonging increases access.

Because our values demand it.

Inclusivity has always been central to our work. Our name now aligns with who we’ve been for years.

 

Timeline:

2026 will be our transition year.

  • Programs continue as Girls Rock Camp and Ladies Rock Camp

  • “Let’s Get Loud” appears in camp themes, shirts, signage, and messaging

  • New Girls Rock Camp song launches

  • Donors, grantors, and sponsors receive targeted transition materials

  • Community partners and musicians are looped in for collaboration and awareness

January 1, 2027 will be the Official Launch of Let’s Get Loud MKE.

Our mission remains exactly the same: empowering individuals of underrepresented gender identities through music, creativity, and collaboration.This rebrand is purely about choosing a name that better reflects the full range of identities we serve today, not about changing anything we’re currently doing. text goes here

  • Not really, just even more awesome! Same instructors, same spirit, same mission. 2026 will be a transition year, so you’ll see both names used while we prepare for a full switch in 2027.

  • Campers will see “Let’s Get Loud” show up in t-shirts, posters, and songs. They’ll be part of shaping our next chapter! Other than that, it means the same camp experience they’ve grown to love, but with a new name and face.

  • Simply, we wanted to take the time to choose with intention. The extra time allowed us to move with integrity, gather real community input, and ensure we chose a name that reflected all who participate. To us, the extra time was worth it!

  • These will stay our program names through 2026. We will revisit how to address these programs under the Let’s Get Loud identity beginning in 2027.

    • Space held by women/trans/nonbinary leadership

    • Recruitment support for a wider range of musicians and genres

  • Our mission and impact remain constant. This change strengthens our alignment with current funders and expands visibility for future support.

  • This evolution was shaped by LGBTQ+ voices. It affirms our commitment to belonging, safety, and empowerment across identities. We hope this rebrand ensures the inclusive core in our programming is read loud and clear!

  • This name helps volunteers and collaborators share our work more confidently and invites artists across all musical genres into our mission.

  • We remain connected to the GRCA community and will share our learnings with other camps exploring similar renaming conversations.
