Girls & Ladies Rock MKE

Girls Rock Milwaukee Embarks on Organization Name Change Process

Tammy SchleicherComment

On this day 12 YEARS AGO, December 12, 2012, friends and co-workers Val Lucks and Ashley Smith founded Girls Rock MKE with its first camps occurring in the summer of 2013. HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY GIRLS ROCK!

On this big day, we have some big news to share.

Girls Rock MKE is thrilled to announce that we have officially initiated an organizational name change process to better reflect our values and those we serve. Accordingly, 2025 will be the last year our programs run under the Girls Rock and Ladies Rock camp names.

We are seeking a new organization name that emerges from the community we serve and that is inclusive of people of all marginalized gender identities, expressions, and experiences, aligning with our commitment to fostering a diverse and welcoming environment.

To do this, we are engaging in a program evaluation so that we can engage maximum community input in the decision making with plans to announce a new name in mid-2025. We anticipate a launch under the new organizational name on January 1, 2026.

We know this is big news that will hit different people in different ways. We want to hear from you! We invite you in to this important process by:

-Applying to participate in one of our focus groups: https://forms.gle/Qhe11gDcjsnodQPT8
-Completing a community input survey to share your thoughts: https://forms.gle/PNUzMKNfJrrfbGae8
-Reading our FAQs posted on our web site: https://girlsrockmke.org/name-change
-Sending us an email to share your thoughts and ideas!

We will keep our community informed of these processes and progress as we move through them. Thank you for your support of Girls Rock MKE over our first 12 years, and we cannot wait to see what holds for our next chapter. 🩷
